Welcome to Cactus & Mimosas
South Texas has a story — one written in small-town kitchens, down dusty backroads, under Friday night lights, and in the dreams of those who call this place home.
At Cactus & Mimosas, we’re more than a magazine. We’re a celebration of our communities — the families, chefs, students, and small business owners who make this region extraordinary.
Join us as we explore, shop local, and shine a spotlight on the people, flavors, and hidden gems that make South Texas unforgettable.
Cactus & Mimosas is a print-only, all-inclusive magazine dedicated to celebrating South Texas through authentic stories, vibrant photography and community spirit. Our mission is simple: to connect neighbors, uplift local voices and preserve the culture that makes our region unique. Every issue directly gives back — magazine sales fund events such as art shows, sponsorships and community programs that keep our towns thriving.
Our Mission
At Cactus & Mimosas Magazine, we believe in slowing down. In a world where everything is a scroll away, we choose to step back from the screen and return to something more meaningful.
Our magazine is print-only because it’s about:
Reconnecting with your neighbors & community
Supporting local, shopping local and reading local
Rediscovering the joy of turning real pages
This isn’t just a magazine - it’s a keepsake, a coffee-table companion and a love letter to South Texas that deserves to be held, shared and remembered.
Why No Digital?
Dear Readers,
For as long as I can remember, photography has been more than a job — it has been my passport to explore. Through my camera lens, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel across South Texas, capturing its spirit in every frame: the bold flavors of small-town kitchens, the vibrant culture of our communities, the hidden gems tucked down backroads, and the countless personalities who make this region feel like home.
This journey — of seeing South Texas up close and personal — inspired me to create something more than just photographs. My lifelong love for journalism and storytelling called me to build a space where we could celebrate all the things that make our rural home extraordinary.
That’s how this project came to life.
This magazine is more than pages filled with words and pictures. It’s a celebration of us — the families who gather at Friday night football games, the chefs and small business owners who pour their hearts into their craft, the students with big dreams, and the unsung heroes who quietly shape our towns. It’s an invitation to shop local, to explore more, and to see South Texas through fresh eyes.
My hope is that each issue brings positive attention to our region, encourages others to experience our unique culture, and shines a spotlight on the people and places that deserve to be seen.
South Texas is beautiful — and together, we can tell its story.
